Engraving the bolster of your knife adds much character to it, making the knife one of a kind and distinctly yours. A bolster may cost only $20-$50 to engrave with the average knife I do in the $100 to $200 range. The price depends on size, detail, style, background, etc… Scrimshaw can also be done on ivory, bone, or plastic ivory handles to make it even more distinctive. Turn around time is usually around two weeks.
